Cable Beach
Cable Beach is well known for its white sandy landscape, turquoise water and exquisite sunsets. The best part is that Cable Beach is only a 10-minute drive from the centre of Broome, so you don’t have to travel far.
Named after the submarine telegraph cable constructed on the beach in 1889, Cable Beach still holds its magic. Tick an iconic camel ride off your bucket list at sunset. Or settle on the beach and admire the staircase to the moon on nights when the moon is full.

Roebuck Bay
Roebuck Bay is worth visiting because of its remarkable 10-metre tidal range and diverse ecology. The Bay is also home to Ramsar wetlands and Australia’s newest Marine Park.
If you enjoy a spot of bird watching, the wetlands attract migratory birds from as far afield as Siberia and the Arctic Circle.
Roebuck Bay is also a garden for endangered turtles, bottlenose dolphins and their rarer cousins, the snubfin dolphin.

Coconut Wells
Only accessible by 4WD, Coconut Wells is a small beachside community of off-grid homes just north of Broome.
Here, you will find an outstanding turquoise tidal lagoon that fills at high tide. Cool off in bathtub-sized rockpools or search for aquatic creatures trapped in the pools by the retreating tides.
Perfect spot for beachcombing or exploring rockpools. The rocks can be sharp underfoot, so don’t forget your sandshoes or reef boots.

James Price Point

This east-facing beach is a perfect location to experience ‘golden hour’ over Roebuck Bay at dawn.

Gantheaume Point
Home to the Broome lighthouse, Gantheaume Point features red Pindan cliffs that spill into the Indian Ocean. It’s a popular spot for photographers capturing the vibrant colours and unique shapes of the region’s fascinating geology.
Cool off in the natural rockpools or explore the rocks at low tide to search for rare dinosaur footprints preserved for millennia.
There is access to a boat ramp to launch your watercraft quickly. Or bring out the kayak and cast around the popular fishing spot.
If you’re hungry for more adventure, less than 2km from Gantheaum Point, you’ll find the departure point for fishing charters and whale-watching trips.

Reddell Beach (Riddell Beach)
Reddell Beach is accessible via the unsealed Kavite Road, which runs from Broome Port to Gantheaume Point Lighthouse. Popular with locals, it may be Broome’s best-kept secret.
The calm, refreshing waters are ideal for a swim, and eroded rock formations form interesting sculptural shapes on the beach.
Popular for fishing, walking, photography, and, more recently, beachside weddings, Reddell Beach is worth visiting.

Town Beach Broome
Town Beach has recently undergone a 24-million-dollar redevelopment and the opening of a new jetty, making it a popular destination for families.
Pull a towel next to the children’s water playground or relax at the nearby café. About a kilometre offshore, across tidal mudflats, the sunken wrecks of World War II flying boats are visible on extremely low tides.
Walk about an hour through the mudflats to see the wrecks up close, but you must leave before the tides change. We recommend leaving about an hour before the lowest tide.
The tide must be below 0.86m for the wrecks to be visible.

Plenty of facilities are available, including BBQs, cafes, lawned picnic areas and public toilets.
Distance from Broome town centre – As the name suggests, Town Beach is less than 0.5 km or a few minutes from the town centre.
Quondong Beach
Only accessible by 4WD, the Quondon Beach access road is partially bitumen, with rough, corrugated, unsealed surface for the last 20km.
Expect to find more red cliffs, white sands and beautiful coral reefs. View the spectacular migration of the world’s largest population of humpback whales in August.

Quondong Beach has no onsite facilities, so bring plenty of water and sun cream.
Distance from Broome town centre – approximately 50 kilometres or about a 30-minute drive.
Entrance Point Broome
Near Broome Port, Entrance Point is a popular fishing spot with easy access to Roebuck Bay and Cable Beach for boaters.
It’s a fantastic place to discover unique rock formations and a peaceful spot for photographers to capture Broome’s stunning, vibrant colours.
The area is a popular choice for events, including picturesque sunset weddings. Event bookings are available, but approval from the Broome Port Authority is required.
